KUNDO xT: Efficient Sensor Control with an App

For more than 125 years, KUNDO xT has been developing technologies for reliable and efficient measurement and warning systems, including CO₂ gas warning systems, wireless communication, and low-energy circuit designs. This family-owned company from Germany’s Black Forest is known for robust hardware and long-lasting products.

To make it easier for installers and service teams to operate and configure its hardware, KUNDO xT partnered with M&M Software to develop the KUNDO connect app. The app digitizes and simplifies the handling of KUNDO xT gas alarm systems, improving efficiency and ease of use in daily operations.

Starting Situation

Most competitors still work without digital support. Settings such as threshold values or room assignments are made directly on the hardware. KUNDO xT followed a similar approach for many years: Service teams had to set switches on-site and document everything manually. Measurement data wasn’t accessible on mobile devices, which slowed down processes in refrigeration systems, beverage dispensing systems, and similar setups.

To improve this and simplify everyday work for users, KUNDO xT looked for an experienced partner in software development and digitalization. They chose M&M Software not only for its technical expertise but also for its collaborative, trust-based approach.

The Solution

The project was implemented using agile methods, allowing for a flexible roadmap and shifting priorities as needed. Close collaboration between hardware and software development was key. Both teams worked in parallel and continuously coordinated their efforts since not all prerequisites were available at once.

The KUNDO connect app digitizes the entire workflow related to configuration, monitoring, and service of gas warning systems. Installers and technicians can access all relevant functions via smartphone or tablet. Settings, measurements, and reports are created directly in the app.

Features

  • Parameter Configuration: Sensors can be configured flexibly, including alarm settings, threshold values, and room assignments.
  • Real-Time Measurements: Current and historical measurement data can be accessed on mobile devices, with selectable time ranges for analysis.
  • Digital Reports: Installation and maintenance reports are generated as PDFs and can be sent instantly.
  • Offline Manuals: Essential information is available at any time, even without network access.

Our Services

The app is built with Ionic Angular. Azure B2C handles authentication and cloud access. Communication with the hardware is established via Bluetooth with a minimum range of ten meters. All features require a verified account.

The app supports the following functions for GAS CONTROL products:

  • Configuring names, threshold values, alarm parameters, and volume
  • Generating digital acceptance reports during initial installation
  • Creating service reports for maintenance activities
  • Displaying current gas concentrations
  • Visualizing historical measurement data in graphs
  • Accessing user manuals
