M&M Software at the Mechanical Engineering Summit 2025
Two days that show where mechanical engineering stands today and where it is headed. The German Mechanical Engineering Summit 2025 in Berlin was once again the industry's big class reunion this year. Nearly 1,000 decision-makers from industry, politics, and research came together to discuss the future of mechanical engineering, and we were there.
Our highlights:
Strong impulses
The summit made it clear how much pressure the mechanical engineering industry is under, from declining production to political uncertainties. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz emphasized the importance of a strategic foreign policy and fair trade conditions. The VDMA president also spoke clearly about the challenges facing the industry.
A real highlight: the Startup Award, which recognized fresh ideas and collaborations between young talent and established companies.
Data, data, data
Our team was on site with Thomas Gaus, Thomas Neumann, and Volker Herbst, with a clear mission: “We make data valuable – from the initial idea to the scalable solution.” Our focus was on data and AI: How do data strategies, data quality, and platform solutions help make mechanical engineering fit for the future? Because when talking about the future of mechanical engineering, there's no getting around data.
Networking
Between presentations, discussions, and coffee breaks, the focus was on exchange. Old contacts were refreshed and new ones made.
We were also visible in other ways: our sponsored notepads and pens on the participants' tables accompanied many ideas, sketches, and notes.
Our conclusion
The mood? Serious, but confident.
The topics? More relevant than ever.
From bureaucracy, customs duties, and new markets to digitalization, AI, and global competitiveness. The discussions showed how complex the situation is, but also how solution-oriented the industry thinks.
Despite all the challenges, the tenor was clear: mechanical engineering remains strong with innovative power, courage, and a clear view of the future.
