Podcast: Practical and safe development with IEC 62443-4-1

Our Competence Center Quality Engineering Lead, Holger Santelmann, was a guest on the "Software Testing" podcast. He talks about how IT security according to IEC 62443-4-1 can be practically integrated into development processes and how M&M Software uses the standard to anchor secure software development not as an obligation, but as a real quality gain in everyday life.

Together with host Richard Seidl, Holger shares insights into how his team not only implemented the IEC 62443-4-1 standard for secure software development, but actively embedded it into their day-to-day work. He explains how they transformed a dreaded “paper monster” into a living process that improves collaboration between development and testing instead of slowing it down. Rather than relying on dry compliance exercises, they designed hands-on training that breaks down each security requirement, established test collaboration meetings, and ensured tester independence through competence centers.

The full interview (in German) is available on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and other major platforms.
