Workshop: Design Thinking – How User-Centered Design Drives Business Success

Agenda

Day 1: Introduction and Problem Space
  • Welcome and introductions
  • Getting to know your peers
  • Workshop overview and shared goals
  • Fundamentals of Design Thinking
  • Understanding users (opening the problem space)
  • User research through expert interviews, literature reviews, and observation analysis (e.g., video material)
  • Creating user personas to better understand user needs and behaviors
  • Defining and narrowing down the problem space
  • Bringing together and analyzing collected data to identify key insights
  • Formulating precise “How Might We” questions to sharpen focus and inspire targeted solutions
  • Brainstorming and ideation using creativity techniques to generate innovative ideas
  • Selecting the most promising ideas to refine further

Participants will understand the fundamentals of Design Thinking and gain deep insights into user needs through research and persona development. They will have analyzed the problem space, identified key findings, and formulated clear “How Might We” questions to guide solution development. The day concludes with creative ideation and the selection of concepts to pursue on Day 2.


Day 2: Prototyping and Testing (Solution Space)
  • Recap and feedback session summarizing Day 1 results
  • Creating low-fidelity prototypes (e.g., paper prototypes)
  • Refining and improving prototypes
  • Hands-on testing and collecting feedback for iteration
  • Revising prototypes based on user feedback
  • Final adjustments and preparation of final versions
  • Discussion of results and planning next steps

On the second day, participants transform their selected ideas into tangible prototypes and test them with users. Using the feedback gathered, they refine and optimize their solutions iteratively. Julian Waimer is a UX Designer Engineer and holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Psychology. At M&M, he uses his extensive knowledge of cognitive psychology and user-centered product design in the workplace context to define user requirements, design easy-to-use interfaces and provide consulting services.
