The development of large language models, which were initially limited to text processing, has made remarkable progress and now includes multimodal capabilities. These models are now able to not only process text, but also interpret other forms of communication such as images and audio. One application of this technology is its use on edge devices, which act as an interface between people and complex systems, much like Alexa acts as a link between people and the internet.

In the context of grid monitoring, large voice models with multimodal capabilities can play a key role on edge devices. They make it possible to process real-time data directly on site, significantly improving response times when monitoring and optimising power grids, for example. These edge devices can process voice commands or audio-visual data to make the management of power grids more efficient. This presentation will focus on the practical application of such systems and the characteristics of the components used to ensure efficient operation.
