M&M Software at the Future Of Industrial Usability

The Future of Industrial Usability 2024 brought together experts from the industry to discuss a user-friendly future. Our UX Designer Julian Waimer spoke about the topic of multitasking. Find out more about our highlights and key takeaways.

What used to be a ‘nice-to-have’ is now becoming a decisive success factor in industry: usability. At the Future of Industrial Usability 2024, experts came together to talk about the future of user-centred solutions - with a focus on accessibility, AI and intuitive design. With a stand on site and an exciting presentation by Julian Waimer, we showed how we implement usability in our projects.

Julian Waimer on multitasking:

In his presentation, our UX designer and usability engineer Julian Waimer explained how user-centred design makes everyday work easier. He showed how the industry can support multitasking by taking into account the limits of human cognition and creating intuitive solutions. Read more in our blog.

Highlights of the conference:

  • Accessibility redefined: Stefan Barac from strategica11y showed that accessibility is more than WCAG standards. His ‘Minimum Accessible Product’ model supplements visual interfaces with solutions for people without sight.

  • Networking: Valuable contacts and exchange with usability colleagues, UX researchers, UX/UI designers and companies such as UID and CaderaDesign

Key takeaways:

  • AI as support: AI should be used as a tool, not as a replacement for humans. Used correctly, it opens up new possibilities in the design process.

  • Focus on accessibility: Accessibility goes beyond the WCAG standards. New guidelines such as the European Accessibility Act (EAA) and the Digital Services Act (DSA) will make accessible UX a must in the B2B sector next year at the latest.

  • Understanding user needs: The best solutions are created when the needs of users are consistently incorporated into the design process.

Conclusion

The Future of Industrial Usability 2024 inspired us to further strengthen the user-centred approach. The combination of practice, innovative ideas and scientific exchange offered valuable insights that we will continue to pursue in future projects.
